Explore[]
Exploring is key in Planet Crafter. You can find new biomes, resources, Storage Containers, Wrecks and other interesting points of interest.
Build in a suitable area[]
When the player first builds their base, they should build in a easy to reach place, and at an altitude (to prevent flooding, as most spawns flood when the Lakes stage is reached). The water in the default landing spot goes up to about 25, so any level above that point will guarantee that your base is not flooded.
Flooding also breaks any machines that are there unless they are specifically able to work underwater.
Immediately reconstruct destroyed solar panels (early game)[]
At the wrecks in the Arches or Cracked Spires, deconstruct the destroyed solar panels and immediately rebuild them for extra Power.
Use beacons with text to mark certain areas[]
Beacons now have text support (on top of changing the colour). Now you can mark wrecks, Caves, your base, and points of interest to come back to them later.
Always bring food and water with you (Standard or above difficulty)[]
Always bring food and water with you when exploring the map. If you run out of water or food during the exploration, you can always refill them to prevent death and loss of inventory or save file (hardcore)
Don't do stupid things (jumping off heights, clipping out of bounds, etc.)[]
Fall damage is enabled in the game by default, the only way to prevent taking fall damage would be by using a Jetpack, or by pressing F4 right before you hit ground. If you do find yourself accidently going out of bounds (will usually be a lack of Ores and any Wrecks) then select F8and report it. After that use the F4/RB + Left Stick to teleport slightly up and use that in order to get yourself out.
Never do stupid things. You'll get lost or get killed.
Drop flares to mark your way in procedural wrecks[]
Use flares to mark places you've been to. That way, you won't get lost in high-complexity procedural wrecks, and it'll also help you check places you didn't go to before.
Build Outpost[]
Build outposts when you explore.
Modding and Exploits[]
If you don't like an aspect of the game, and it's not one of the already editable difficulty settings, you might still be able to get around your frustration by using Mods or maybe one of the known Exploits.
