Events are weather occurrences that can take place on the planet. These events range from simply adding atmosphere to the game with no effect on gameplay, to meteor showers that provide the player with useful resources.
Mechanics[]
Any active event (or series of queued events) will disappear if the game is reloaded, as will all meteor debris and drops.
Night and events triggered by rockets are not governed by the natural weather system. For all other events, the game rolls every 20 seconds for a 2% chance of triggering an event. If this roll succeeds, it then performs a second roll to choose between all available events.
Every available event has the same weight; therefore the chance of any particular event happening on a given trigger can be stated as 1/N, where N is the number of available events. (E.g. with 9 events available, every event has a 1/9 chance of being selected.)
Availability[]
Different events become available at different times during the game:

Meteor Events[]
Meteor events are one of the most common events in the game. Two meteor events are triggered by rocket launches, while the rest are random. The color of the sky varies between events. When these meteors hit the ground, they scatter rocks and resources.
The materials that land from the events must be gathered before the player exits the game, as all meteor debris and events are cleared on game reload. Some materials may be covered by rocks at first; it is therefore recommended that the player only launches the rockets when they have time to wait for rocks to despawn.
Rockets launched in quick succession will queue a series of storms, each of which must run for its full time before the next one begins. If you do not care about the resources received from the storms, you may save and reload the game to clear the entire queued stack.
Every meteor roughly targets the location of the player at the moment that meteor spawned. With a T2 GPS Satellite deployed, the
Mapping Screen can track meteors. Meteors do not damage buildings, but can injure you on a direct hit. The player will be safe from meteor damage when inside a building or inside caves.
Rock Meteor Shower[]

Rock meteor
Available at: 0 Ti
This is the first meteor event encountered, and can happen from the start of the game. The sky will turn red. The meteors contain basic ores: Iron,
Cobalt,
Magnesium,
Silicon,
Titanium, and sometimes
Aluminum.
Iridium Shower[]

Iridium shower
Unlocked at: 345 kTi (comes with Launch Platform)
An Iridium meteor shower must be triggered by launching a Magnetic Field Protection Rocket. After the rocket vanishes into space the sky will turn yellow, and meteors will appear that have red trails. Each meteorite drops several iridium on impact.
Uranium Shower[]

Uranium shower
Unlocked at: 345 kTi (comes with Launch Platform)
A Uranium meteor shower must be triggered by launching an Asteroid Attraction Rocket. After the rocket vanishes into space the sky will turn yellow, and meteors will appear that have green trails. Each meteorite drops several uranium on impact.
Super Alloy Storm[]

Super alloy shower
Available at: 200 MTi
A Super Alloy meteor shower features high numbers of meteors, with a purple glow and green trail. During this shower the sky turns dark purple. Each meteorite drops 1 super alloy, but these despawn much faster than resources from other showers.
Osmium Shower[]

Osmium shower
Available at: 700 MTi
An Osmium meteor shower features a small number of blue meteors with dark trails. During this shower, the entire planet is bathed in a vivid blue glow. Each meteorite drops a few osmium and sulfur.
Pulsar Meteor[]

Pulsar meteor
Available at: 8 GTi
The late game Pulsar quartz meteor event is a single huge purple meteor, which is significantly slower and louder than other storms. During this shower the sky is blue with pink distance haze and wind noise. The meteorite usually drops 10 pulsar quartz.
Environmental Events[]
Environmental events are also common occurrences. One is triggered by rockets, while the rest are random. The color of the sky varies between events. Currently there are no materials, meteors, or danger to be found within these events; they exist only to enhance immersion of the game and do not directly affect the terraforming index or other factors.
Night[]

Night
During the night, the sky grows dark and it is difficult to see the world. Night is entirely aesthetic and does not affect the production of solar power. Night is also much shorter than day.
Solar Flare[]

Solar flare
Available at: 0 Ti
A solar flare causes the sky to turn yellow and the moons to turn bright white, and emits fog and wind noise.
Solar Eclipse[]

Solar eclipse
Available at: 175 kTi
A solar eclipse causes the sky to turn a deeper yellow and the moons to turn black, and emits thicker fog and wind noise.
Sandstorm[]

Sandstorm
Available at: 350 kTi
A sandstorm causes the sky to turn deep orange and emits wind noise.
Rain[]

Rain
Available at: 350 kTi
Rain includes droplets of water from the sky and somewhat reduced visibility from fog. The ground glistens wetly, and the sky grows slightly darker but remains blue.
Rainstorm[]

Rainstorm
Available at: 875 kTi
The rainstorm is a stronger version of the rain event. The rain is louder, visibility is significantly reduced, and the sky is dark grey and overcast.
Green Storm[]

Green storm
Unlocked at: 175 kg Biomass or 650 MTi (requires Launch Platform)
A green storm must be triggered by launching a Plant Rocket or Seed Spreader Rocket. After the rocket vanishes into space the sky will turn slightly greenish. There is wind noise, and the planet fills with a green fog and glowing green particles.
Purple Eclipse[]

Purple eclipse
Available at: 700 MTi
A purple eclipse causes the sky to turn bright purple and the moons to turn black, and emits wind noise.
Historical Events[]
Crate Meteor[]

Crate meteor

Crate meteor debris
Previously available at: 32 GTi
This late game event existed only for a few months in Early Access. It was added to the game in update 0.8.008 (Space Trading update), and removed in 0.9.025 (Procedural Wrecks update). It featured a single large shipping crate (similar to those found in the Cracked Spires biome) falling from the sky, with a fiery glow and dark trail. It was very loud like the pulsar meteor, but was not slow. There was no wind noise and no change to the sky during the event. Upon impact, the crate dropped 5 storage crates around it, which contained stage-typical loot and sometimes yellow
Terra Tokens chips. As in the full release, these chips could be right-clicked to redeem them, and could be worth 100, 500, 1000, or 5000 tokens.
