Planet Crafter Wiki

Note: The content on this page is somewhat outdated. Planet Crafter has progressed past the "early access" stage of development, and no new content has been documented on this page since 2022. As such, the information below may be incomplete or no longer entirely accurate and should be considered a historical record of a previous state of the game.

This page is/was kept by Miju Games Discord's volunteer team (that is, not actually affiliated with the studio, but at least organized and with a direct line of communication to the devs), to document well-known topics and known issues.

Frequent Questions

What are the various terraforming numbers?

The units are explained in the pages for each terraforming stat: Terraforming Index, Oxygen, Heat, Pressure, Biomass. Except for Ti (which is fictional) and oxygen (which uses parts-per notation, a common system in science and engineering), the others are standard SI units (also known as ‘metric’ in non-SI countries) with SI prefixes.

Where do I get Osmium?

If you can't find it, it's probably too early in the terraformation.

It can be found in various caves, but in the beginning they are blocked by ice. This ice melts at various points when you reach certain thresholds of heat. (More info: Caves, Ice (Object))

Where do I get Zeolite?

If you can't find it, it's probably too early in the terraformation.

Zeolite starts growing in tree roots all over the map, after you reach the Moss stage of terraformation. It's limited, but new ones keep spawning all the time. After some time, a vine in Iridium Mine will grow and lead you to the Balcony, which has Zeolite. Zeolite can also be mined with an Ore Extractor T2 in the Zeolite Cave.

How do I get food after my Space Food is finished?

Unlock the Food Grower and plant food seeds in it.

Help, my character is stuck!

If you get stuck in rocks, or inside a pod, or some other shenanigans, press F4 to shift the character a little upwards. If that's not enough, you can use it multiple times.

Where are the save files?

  • Windows

Save files are at C:\Users\YOURUSER\AppData\LocalLow\MijuGames\Planet Crafter. We recommend backing them up, especially if you're doing strange experiments or running the development branch.

How do you turn on coordinates?

  • Coordinates are always turned on. They are at the bottom left of your screen.

Frequent Suggestions

The terraforming units are confusing/unrealistic

We know not everybody is used to SI units. We know even people who know SI might not immediately remember the k/M/G/T prefixes. We know even people who know these might be confused by ppq/ppt/ppb/ppm. We know it can be confusing when units go up a scale (like from k to M) and suddenly it looks like they're not moving anymore. And yes, we know a temperature of 0 Kelvin doesn't exist in normal circumstances, and pressure and temperature should have a correlation, and ppm makes no sense if pressure is 0, etc. These have been discussed, a lot, the devs are aware, and they may be addressed in a future update.

In-game encyclopedia

Would be nice to have a reference to items and recipes in the UI, especially check recipes without having to go to a craft station.

  • Status: under consideration.

Prevent accidental deconstruction

We know everyone deconstructs stuff they don't intend to all the time. Some ways to prevent that have been suggested.

Better late game storage

Some ideas have been discussed for late-game storage.

Craft from storage

Especially in late game, craft stations should be able to get ingredients from nearby lockers. Possibly also for building.

Rotation should be more friendly, especially when building multiple items

It's been discussed. Instead of always starting at default rotation, new building ‘holograms’ could either start facing the player, or ‘remember’ the latest rotation.

Build multiple constructions

You may build mutliple constructions by using Ctrl + Click as long as you have its building item in your inventory.

Add a minimap

Many survival games feature a minimap and could help the player here too.

Add a full screen map

There exist ways to look at parts of surface (satellite image) but there is no full screen map.

  • Status: under consideration

Move multiple items with Shift + Click

You may move mutliple items from different inventories by Ctrl + Click on the desired item. Excess item will not move from the initial inventory.

Show select crafting recipe(s) on screen

Remembering crafting recipes is not that easy and one would have to keep looking at them in some screen. Similar to other games, players would like to pin some recipes on the screen to guide them on collecting resources for them.

Add hot bar, quick bar, tool belt or buildings bar

Currently, one has to go back to the craft screen (Q), locate the building to be crafted and click on it, often over and over.

Ability to name beacons

Some players find it difficult to identify locations just by the color of the beacon. The ability to add and display text along with the color hexagon would be a way to add extra information.

Known Bugs

For the full list of known bugs see Known Game Bugs. The most commonly reported ones are listed below.

Disappearing death chests

Sometimes when you die (on standard mode) the chest with your items doesn't appear. What's happening here is the chest is spawned under the ground (so not accessible). It happens mostly when you die on a slope, so try to die indoors, or on flat ground.

Large living compartment and Biolab have no lighting

Known. Might be intentional, we're not sure. For now build area lights inside.

Effigies are placed ‘floating’ some distance from the floor/desk/etc, including in display cases

Known.

Large living compartment, Biolab, and Biodomes don't snap on top of other buildings

Known. For now build a temporary normal-sized compartment on the new level, then snap the biolab/biodome/etc to the side of the temporary one, and you can then dismantle the temporary one.

Empty food growers when hovered show a growth rate of 30%

Oops.

Foundations are a different size from pods and don't snap to them

Known.

Holes in Terrain

There are many known places where you can go through rocks that you clearly shouldn't, and one or two where you can go through the ground. Devs are working on those already. After the current batch of fixes, we'll figure out a reasonable way for players to report any new ones they find.
