The Arches is a high-desert biome, featuring several massive arching rock formations. Several of the smaller rock formations resemble cairn rocks, which are man-made stacks of rocks. Arches is one of the westernmost biomes.
The Highlands do also feature some giant rock arches in their southern parts, but they are much bigger than those found here.
This location may serve as a landing site, if the player chooses the "random" option. It can not be chosen specifically.
Connections[]
Direction | Description |
---|---|
North | The Highlands, down a small valley. |
East | Sand Falls, down a steep, but climbable cliff, riding the falls in zero view. |
South | A small canyon leads to the entrance of an Osmium Cave at 138:154:2057. It is intially blocked by ice, which melts at 45 µK. The long tunnel leads on to a Pulsar Quartz Cave, before emerging into the Meteor Crater. |
Southeast | Rock triangles mark the entrance of the Zeolite Cave at 345:157:1810 near the Sand Falls. It is open from the beginning of the game. This cave leads south to the Meteor Crater and east to another Osmium Cave. The connection to the latter is intially blocked by ice. |
Notable Features[]
The western end of the biome features a huge cargo bay, seemingly from a very large ship or space station. It contains valuable loot, especially useful, if this location was selected as landing site.
